Terms of service

These terms govern your use of the Alerts for Good website at alertsforgood.org and, when the subscribe line opens, our SMS alert service. Alerts for Good is a 501(c)(3) public charity. By using the site or subscribing to alerts, you agree to the terms below.

What Alerts for Good is

Alerts for Good delivers public-safety messages by text. We relay alerts from the National Weather Service, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and verified community partners. We are not a government agency. We are not an emergency-response service. We do not originate warnings; we relay them.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. Do not rely on Alerts for Good as your only safety channel.

Subscribing to alerts

When the subscribe line opens, you will sign up with your mobile number, zip code, and the alert lines you want. By subscribing you confirm:

• You are at least 18 years old or subscribing with parental consent.
• The mobile number you provide is yours, or you have permission to enroll it.
• You consent to receive recurring SMS alerts from Alerts for Good at that number.
• You understand that message and data rates from your carrier may apply.

Reply STOP to any alert to unsubscribe from that line. Reply HELP for a reminder of keywords and how to contact us. You can also unsubscribe by emailing info@alertsforgood.org.

What the service costs

Alerts for Good is free to subscribers. Standard carrier message and data rates may apply to the texts we send you. We never charge you to subscribe, to receive alerts, or to unsubscribe.

Accuracy and delivery

We relay alerts in good faith from the sources we trust. We cannot guarantee that every alert will reach you, or reach you on time. Message delivery depends on carriers, cell coverage, and the timeliness of the originating source. Subscribers should treat Alerts for Good as one signal alongside other public-safety channels, not a replacement for them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Alerts for Good to:

• Enroll numbers that are not yours without permission.
• Resell, repackage, or redistribute the alert feed without our written permission.
• Interfere with the service, probe the infrastructure, or attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours.
• Impersonate Alerts for Good, a government agency, or an alert source.

Intellectual property

The Alerts for Good name, wordmark, and logo are owned by Alerts for Good. The alerts themselves may carry underlying rights from the originating agency (for example, NWS or CDC). Nothing in these terms grants you a license to the logo or the alert feed for commercial use.

No warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted delivery, uninterrupted site availability, or that every alert will reach you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alerts for Good disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alerts for Good and its staff, volunteers, contractors, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the site or the alert service. Our total aggregate liability, if any, is limited to one hundred US dollars.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Denver County, Colorado.

Changes to these terms

We will update this page when the service changes materially. Substantive updates will be flagged on the homepage for at least 30 days. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version.
